What is a mobile patrol?
A mobile patrol is an officer visiting several sites in a shift, checking each and moving on. It gives a security presence to sites that cannot justify a dedicated officer.
The product being sold is unpredictability and visible presence rather than continuous coverage, and the client needs to understand that distinction before a burglary rather than after one.
Visit timing and duration are what the service actually consists of. Records that show arrival, what was checked and departure are what let a client see they got what they bought.
It adds driving to the risk picture, which brings vehicle, licensing and fatigue considerations that a static post does not have.
What goes wrong in practice
- Visit records showing arrival but not what was checked.
- Routes so consistent that visit times can be predicted.
- Driving time squeezed to fit a round, producing rushed checks and a fatigue risk.
