Construction sites
Security compliance software for construction sites.
An officer alone on a site at three in the morning, on a contract the principal contractor audits.

Construction security is mostly lone working at night on a site that was dangerous during the day. Plant, excavations, partially built structures and no one else present — the risks an officer faces are the site's risks, not a security client's, and few of them were assessed with a lone guard in mind.
The client relationship adds a second layer. A principal contractor is answerable for everyone on their site, including your officers, so your licence evidence, your inductions and your incident records become part of their file and get audited as such.
Theft and trespass drive the commercial case, but it is the lone-working and the site induction evidence that get examined after an incident.
The records
What construction site contracts are answerable for
- SIA licence number, sector and expiry per officer
- Screening and vetting evidence against the officer record
- Site inductions received from the principal contractor
- Assignment instructions, and acknowledgement of them
- Shift rosters and attendance
- Incidents and near misses through to close-out
The problem
What makes this hard for construction site contracts
Lone officers on a hazardous site
The site's own risks do not stop at the end of the working day, and the person present overnight is alone with them. Check-in arrangements and assignment instructions are the controls, which makes the record of them the evidence that they existed.
Your client is audited on your officers
The principal contractor is answerable for everybody on site. Your licence evidence and inductions sit in their file, and a gap in yours becomes a finding against them — which is how contracts get lost.
Cover arranged at short notice
A sickness at seven in the evening means somebody is going to a site they have not been inducted onto, for a contract whose instructions they have not read. The pressure to fill the post is immediate and the checking is not.
Sites that open, change and close
A contract runs for the length of a build, and the site changes under it. Instructions written at mobilisation describe a site that no longer exists six months later.
Incidents with nobody to corroborate
A lone officer's account is often the only account. The value of a contemporaneous record is much higher here than on a staffed site, and the opportunity to make one is much lower.
The answer
How SecureOptix helps
Your client is audited on your officers
Licence number, sector and expiry sit on the officer record with screening evidence alongside, so a client's audit is answered from a record rather than a folder.
Officer recordsCover arranged at short notice
Rostering shows who is licensed and current at the point of assigning the shift, so filling a post at short notice still happens against the record.
Rostering and attendanceIncidents with nobody to corroborate
Incidents are captured from first report through to close-out, with the detail recorded at the time rather than written up at the end of a shift.
Incident captureSites that open, change and close
Assignment instructions are held against the contract with their versions, so what an officer was told is evidenced rather than assumed.
Assignment instructionsLone officers on a hazardous site
Licence expiry, training refreshers and screening renewals sit on one calendar, so nothing that makes an officer deployable lapses unnoticed.

Questions
What construction site contracts ask
- Does SecureOptix check licences against the SIA register?
- No. It records the licence you saw — number, sector and expiry — and tracks the date. Verifying against the register remains part of your own process.
- Does it do guard tour or patrol tracking?
- No. It records shifts and incidents; it does not replace NFC or GPS patrol systems, and it is not lone-worker device software. Those stay with whatever hardware you use.
- Can we evidence inductions given by the client?
- Inductions received can be recorded against the officer and the contract, which is what makes a principal contractor's audit answerable without asking them for their own records back.
- Can officers record an incident from site?
- Incidents are captured from first report through to close-out. A contemporaneous record matters most where the officer is the only witness, which on these contracts is usually the case.
- Does it run payroll from the roster?
- No. Rosters and attendance are recorded; payroll, invoicing and accounting sit outside SecureOptix.
